2026 TRAINING FOR NEW OFFICIALS
Welcome to our SEFOA Training Class page! For your planning purposes, we will begin the 2026 SEFOA at 6pm on May 5th, 2025. The classes will be held every other Monday. We will usually spend an hour in the classroom reviewing rules, mechanics, and officiating philosophies. We will then spend an hour on the field for practical application (weather dependent). If the need to conduct training via Zoom arises, we will review mechanics using game film from the college and high school levels. To ensure maximum participation through early planning, the dates, times, and location of the classes are:
May 4th @ 6pm – 8pm Virginia Wesleyan University
May 18th @ 6pm – 8pm Virginia Wesleyan University
June 1st @ 6pm – 8pm Virginia Wesleyan University
June 15th @ 6pm – 8pm Virginia Wesleyan University
June 29th @ 6pm – 8pm Virginia Wesleyan University
July 11th SEFOA 1/2-day Clinic @ 7:45am – 2pm Nansemond Suffolk Academy *Attended by all members*

**Midway through our summer training, we are usually afforded the opportunity to gain valuable experience working games for a local high school football camp. These games will provide both new and probationary officials (officials with 1-2 years’ experience) opportunity to work 1 on 1 with top position trainers (many that work the higher levels of football) and gain valuable practice in advance of the upcoming football season. **
If interested in joining our 2026 SEFOA Training Class, please Contact Us. No experience is necessary--we provide the training. Earn a little money while giving back to your community and supporting youth & high school sports. If you are a veteran or active-duty military, you could possibly have your first-year expenses covered with a “Battlefields to Ballfields” scholarship. “Battlefields to Ballfields” provides scholarships to veterans to get integrated back into their community through officiating.
